Texas Teachers commits $200m to real estate

The $134 billion Teacher Retirement System of Texas has committed $200 million to value-added real estate, according to recent meeting documents.

The pension fund committed $20 million to Abacus Multi-Family Partners III. The fund, managed by Abacus Capital Group, launched in 2014 and has a $300 million fundraising goal. It will focus on apartment properties in the United States. The Texas Municipal Retirement System and the Indiana Public Retirement System both have made commitments to the fund.
