Texas ERS veteran Amy Cureton appointed as managing director of real assets

by RELEASED

The Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) has recently selected long-time investments staffer Amy Cureton as its next managing director of real assets.

Cureton, who had previously been director of private real state, replaced Bob Sessa, who retired at the end of August.

“Cureton brings more than two decades of investment experience to this role, including almost 16 years of distinguished service with ERS,” CIO David Veal said. “The decision to promote Cureton was the culmination of a rigorous month-long process that considered several strong internal candidates for this important leadership position that oversees 16 percent of retirement trust assets.”

During her time with ERS’ private real estate team – including periods as an investment analyst and portfolio manager – the program has grown from zero to more than $7 billion in commitments and more than 120 commingled funds, fund of funds, separate accounts and co-investments.
