The $143 billion State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB) has appointed Edwin Denson as executive director and CIO. He succeeds David Villa, who passed away Feb. 13.
Denson joined SWIB in 2018 as the managing director of asset and risk allocation. Prior to that, he served as a managing director and head of strategic tilting at the C$475 billion ($380 billion) Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, and was a portfolio manager at William Blair & Co. for 13 years before that. He also served as a managing member at Singer Partners, a managing director and head of asset allocation at UBS Global Asset Management, and was an economist at Lehman Bros., Primark Decision Economics and Putnam Investments.
