Stoneweg acquires Comèdia cinema building in Barcelona for €100m project

Stoneweg has completed the purchase of the historic Comèdia cinema building, located at the junction of Passeig de Gràcia and Gran Via in Barcelona, from Pla and Planàs families, the previous owners of the property. The project will see more than €100 million ($113 million) invested, split between the acquisition price and the renovation costs.

The building, which now has a surface area of 6,700 square meters (72,118 square feet), will be the future home of the Carmen Thyssen Museum in Barcelona. This new cultural space, promoted by Baroness Carmen Cervera and Stoneweg Places & Experiences, will include a selection of the Baroness’ collection of 19th- and 20th century Catalan art. Considered one of the most important collections of Catalan art from this period, it will form part of the museum’s permanent exhibition.
