The State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio) has appointed William Neville as the pension fund’s tenth executive director.
The decision was unanimously approved at a special meeting that took place on June 23.
Neville, who has been serving as the chief legal officer for STRS Ohio, will succeed Michael Nehf, who is planning to retire in July.
Neville joined STRS Ohio in 2004 and has worked with internal and external counsel to provide fiduciary, litigation, transactional and compliance guidance and counsel to STRS Ohio’s staff and board, according to the pension fund. He helped lead a legislative effort to give the retirement board unprecedented control over the system’s benefit plan design, resulting in an improved actuarial funding position and a reduction of the system’s projected liabilities of more than $10 billion.
