The living sector in Japan is resilient and diverse, with property types having achieved varying degrees of institutionalization, explain members of SC Capital Partners’ investment team, in an interview published in the May issue of Institutional Real Estate Asia Pacific.

Apartments are held by foreign and domestic investors, along with retail investors, while alternative living assets, such as student or senior housing and serviced apartments, offer value and opportunity for investors, as well. “Japan is a safe and stable country, and its real estate legal framework is strong and reliable,” says the investment team. “In terms of sector types, the living sector has proven to be resilient throughout the pandemic — it not only survived, but thrived.”
