Europe’s alternative sectors offer the opportunity to create value through operations, but they also enjoy needs-based demand, explains Caleb Mercer, managing director, European private equity, with Heitman, in an interview published in the June issue of Institutional Real Estate Americas about the firm’s value-added investment strategy in Europe. “Adding value operationally can include things such as revenue management, dynamic pricing, inquiry tracking and conversion, centralized purchasing, and information technology,” says Mercer. “There are many different levers you can pull to add this value to the underlying investment despite what may be going on in the economy.”
