The U.S. commercial real estate investable market has reached an estimated $26.8 trillion, while the institutional portion of that universe is an estimated $11.7 trillion, according to a report, “The U.S. CRE investable universe,” by Indraneel Karlekar, managing director, global head of investment research with Clarion Partners, and David Bank, partner and director of research with Rosen Consulting Group, which was published in the September issue of Institutional Real Estate Americas.
Authors cite that alternative property types comprise 37 percent of the total U.S. commercial real estate universe, with a value of $9.9 trillion, and comprise 31 percent, or $3.6 trillion, of the institutional real estate universe.
