The South Carolina Retirement System Investment Commission has invested $75 million in Equus Investment Partnership XII, a closed-end vehicle managed by Equus Capital Partners.

The value-added fund, which opened in April 2021, will target diversified property types such as industrial, multifamily and office properties in the United States, with a focus on coastal and Sun Belt markets.

As of October, Equus Investment Partnership XII has secured more than $465 million toward its $500 million fundraising goal.

As of June 30, South Carolina had an 11.5 percent exposure to private and public real estate, against an overall target of 9 percent. The real estate portfolio is valued at more than $4.2 billion.
