SCERS commits $50m to WCP NewCold III

Sacramento County (Calif.) Employees Retirement System (SCERS) has committed $50 million to WCP NewCold III, an investment vehicle of Westport Capital Partners. This commitment was confirmed on Dec. 11, according to meeting materials.

WCP NewCold III is a closed-end, opportunistic fund that will create 31 cold storage warehouses globally. A fundraising goal has not yet been disclosed. Commitments from State Board of Administration of Florida and the New York State Common Retirement Fund were made to this same fund in November.

SCERS is a public pension fund that provides benefits to its participants. As of Sept. 30, it had $14 billion in total assets under management with 9 percent targeted to real estate. At the end of September, it had $1.1 billion in
