by Andrea Zander

Singapore-based SC Capital Partners has launched an Asia data-center platform, SC Zeus Data Centers, starting with the development of a hyperscale South Korean facility at an expected cost of $500 million.

SC Zeus are building a network of data centers across Asia Pacific with approximately 250 megawatts of total IT load. SC Capital Zeus Data Centres will target the Tier 1 Asia markets of Japan, South Korea and Singapore, along with the emerging markets of Jakarta, Indonesia and Bangkok and Thailand in Southeast Asia.

When completed the data center will support an IT load of 45 megawatts. The new data center has a gross floor space of 45,000 square meters (484,476 square feet).

Joe Gooi, CEO, said, “We are investing in this project to service the growing demand for data center capacity on the back of a huge Internet market in South Korea, and we are already fielding expressions of interest from prospective tenants.”
