Savills has appointed James Sparrow as its new U.K. chief executive and Richard Rees as U.K. managing director.
Sparrow succeeds Mark Ridley.
Both Sparrow and Rees were appointed to the Savills U.K. board when it was formed in 2012, prior to that having sat on the boards of Savills Commercial and Savills L&P. Sparrow as head of professional services has board level responsibility for valuation, building consultancy, lease consultancy, rating, capital allowances, recoveries and the public sector business. He also has had direct responsibility for the housing and healthcare divisions, which he has run since they were formed.
Rees is, and will continue to be, responsible for its national development services division comprising more than 700 people across the areas of development, planning and residential development sales. His division covers the breadth and depth of the United Kingdom, and he also co-chairs the U.K. regional development boards.
Earlier this year, Jeremy Helsby announced his retirement plans and will be succeeded by Ridley, currently CEO of Savills U.K. and Europe, on Jan. 1, 2019. Ridley has been CEO of Savills U.K. Commercial business since May 2008.
