San Joaquin CEO Johanna Shick to retire in March

Johanna Shick, CEO of the San Joaquin County Employees’ Retirement Association (SJCERA), has announced that she will retire in March 2024.

Shick has served for seven years as the CEO of SJCERA. Under her leadership, the organization “improved funding, cut investment expenses, modernized and streamlined operations, consistently obtained customer satisfaction ratings of 95 percent or higher and became a more resilient organization,” according to a press release on SJCERA’s website announcing the retirement.

Prior to her role as CEO, Shick was the assistant administrator and chief benefits officer at San Diego County Employees Retirement Association (SDCERA) from 2012 to 2017 and the member services manager, communications, for SDCERA from 2006 to 2012. Shick was also the client services manager of the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems from 1992 to 2000.
