Real estate experts share their outlooks for property sectors in the year ahead

Looking ahead to 2023, the global economy continues to face many challenges and threats, from the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic to high inflation and rising interest rates, to geopolitical tensions and the dangers of a global recession. A collection of industry experts were asked to share their forecasts and expectations for U.S. real estate in the current environment.

The participants were Todd Henderson, co-global head of real estate at DWS; Indraneel Karlekar, global head of research and strategy, real estate, for Principal Asset Management; Lee Menifee, head of Americas investment research at PGIM Real Estate; Mark Roberts, director of research at Crow Holdings and SMU’s Folsom Institute for Real Estate; and Blake Walker, director, research and strategy, at The Green Cities Company.
