Nuveen Real Estate’s research team has implemented predictive analytics and it is helping their team track data in useful and specific ways.

“We have developed a suite of alternative data sets that we use which we think can be used to develop our predictive analytics suite of tools,” says Melissa Reagen, managing director, head of research – Americas, at Nuveen Real Estate. “These alternative data sets range from things like Zillow data, CMBS data, using public REIT data, as well as using data from foot-traffic cell phone data, to measure the amount of foot traffic in and out of a retail center, or really any sort of property type.”

Reagan explains that they’re goal is to marry up the alternative data sets with the traditional real estate data sets that are used in the industry to create what Nuveen Real Estate thinks will be a full suite of predictive analytics.
