State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) of Ohio has reported a bounceback from the market collapse early on in 2020, logging a 3.14 percent return for the fiscal year, outperforming the benchmark of 3.07 percent.
In addition, the five-year return of 6.91 percent outperformed the benchmark of 6.60 percent by 31 basis points, according to August meeting materials. As of July, investment assets were at $78.8 billion and have recovered by more than $10 billion since late March.
As of May 31, the global real assets portfolio, which consists of real estate and infrastructure investments, was valued at $2.3 billion and comprised 16 percent of the portfolio. An investment report shows that asset class was overweight to its target of 15 percent.
Fiscal year 2021 began strong with a total fund preliminary return of 2.7 percent, despite uncertainty in the global economy.
