Ohio Police & Fire commits $150m to two real estate funds

by Lewis Dayton

The Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund (OP&F) committed $75 million to AEW Partners Real Estate Fund X (AEW X) and $75 million to Oaktree Real Estate Opportunities Fund IX (OREOF IX).

AEW X is seeking to raise $2.5 billion of capital and is opportunistically investing in real estate assets in the United States, primarily in multi-family, industrial and medical/health care properties.

OREOF IX is targeting a $6 billion fundraise and is focusing on making investments in distressed debt acquisitions, rescue refinancing, discounted securities purchases and equity recapitalizations, primarily in the United States but with a global component that could include Europe and Asia.

OP&F also has invested in AEW VII and AEW IX, as well as in OREOF VIII.

OP&F has allocated 10.4 percent ($1.84 billion) of its portfolio toward real estate, slightly below the 12 percent target allocation for the asset class.
