New Toronto skyscraper to have urban forest on its roof

by Jody Barhanovich

A new skyscraper proposed near Toronto’s Union Station has plans to incorporate an urban forest on top of its roof, reports blog TO. The rooftop will be landscaped and terraces with glass walls will shelter trees from the wind.

The new 52-story office tower, called Union Centre, will stand at 1,194 feet with office space and an event venue, among other things. The base of the tower will feature multiple layers of public space that will connect to Union Station.

Developers Westbank and Allied Properties REIT have enlisted Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) to design Union Centre.
