New Mexico PERA names Greg Trujillo as permanent executive director

by Kali Persall

Greg Trujillo, long-time deputy director of the New Mexico Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA), has been chosen as the pension fund’s new executive director.

The board of trustees voted 9–1 in favor of the appointment.

Trujillo has been with PERA for more than eight years as the deputy director and has been serving as the acting executive director since February. Following this appointment, PERA can begin the hiring process for a general counsel and CIO, roles which have been vacant for the past few months.

“I’m excited for the opportunity and look forward to working with the PERA board and staff to continue serving our members,” said Trujillo.

The PERA Trust Fund recently reached a value of more than $18 billion, an all-time high for PERA.
