Maryland State Retirement and Pension Systems chair Nancy Kopp to retire

Nancy Kopp, Maryland State Treasurer and ​​chair of the Board of Trustees of the Maryland State Retirement and Pension Systems (MSRPS), is drawing her tenure to a close.

Kopp announced this week that she plans to retire later this year, a year before her term would end, according to wtop news. She has held the state treasurer post since 2002.

“After these five decades of public service in Annapolis, it is time for me to invest more attention and energy in my wonderful family and community, who have made this all possible,” said Kopp in a letter to lawmakers.

Gov. Larry Hogan stated, “It is difficult to imagine chairing a board of public works meeting without Nancy Kopp. With the second-longest tenure of any treasurer in state history, Nancy will leave an incredible legacy of strong financial stewardship, which has helped assure our coveted AAA bond rating year after year.
