Mall visits slip 6.4% in November — is it the economy, or a result of the extended shopping season?

Visits to malls around the country during one of the busiest months of the year were down compared to 2021 and 2019, according to foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai’s Mall Indexes, detailed in a new report titled Placer.ai Mall Indexes - November 2022 Update.

Year-over-year, visits to indoor malls were down 6.4 percent in November, down 5.4 percent at OALCs, and down 8 percent at outlet malls. Those numbers represent a slip compared to the year-over-year October data. And looking at month-over-month numbers, the figures are a bit rosier. Visits to indoor malls were up 8.64 percent over October, 3.
