KKR Asia Real Estate Partners raises $1.7b

KKR has completed a final close of its inaugural pan-Asian real estate fund, KKR Asia Real Estate Partners (AREP), with $1.7 billion in capital commitments.

The fund will focus on opportunistic real estate investments in Asia Pacific. According to KKR, AREP will focus on a range of sectors, including commercial, industrial and residential properties, and will opportunistically evaluate assets in emerging alternative sectors.

AREP was backed by a diverse group of new and existing global investors, including public and corporate pensions, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, endowments, private banking platforms, family offices and high-net-worth individuals. A fundraising target was not disclosed.
