Kentucky Teachers reports gain of 5.8% for fiscal year

Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System (TRS) has posted a 5.8 percent gross gain for the fiscal year ending June 30, placing it among the top 5 percent of large pension plans with more than $1 billion in assets.

Returns for Kentucky TRS over the past 30 years are 8 percent compounded, which is in line with the 7.5 percent long-term assumed rate of return, according to a document from the pension fund’s Aug. 20 meeting.

The net return after fees and expenses is 5.5 percent.
