Michael McGowan has joined the $306.7 billion California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) as an associate portfolio manager, real estate investments, on July 1, 2021.
McGowan, who has 30 years of experience in both public and private real estate investing, most recently served as a principal with Bard Consulting. From 2009 to 2016, he was the lead portfolio manager of the Forward International Real Estate Fund, a public mutual fund invested primarily in European and Asian REITs.
