The Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) of the State of Illinois has disclosed a $300 million commitment to Blackstone Real Estate Partners X on behalf of the pension fund’s $11.9 billion real assets portfolio.
Blackstone Real Estate Partners X, an opportunistic fund managed by Blackstone, launched in May to invest in diversified property types globally.
A fundraising target could not be determined at the time of publication. The fund’s predecessor, Blackstone Real Estate Partners IX (BREP IX), reached a final close in 2019 with $20.5 billion of capital commitments.
Blackstone administers about $1.1 billion in TRS assets — approximately $783 million in seven real estate funds and $345.7 in three real asset funds. The relationship with Blackstone began in 2007.
