IJM Land, a U.K. subsidiary of Malaysia’s IJM Land, has purchased the historic site in Welwyn Garden City, a town in Hertfordshire, England, 20 miles north of London.
It was previously occupied by cereal giant Shredded Wheat. The deal, which was overseen by appointed receiver CBRE, opens the door for a major mixed-use development on the 44,515 square meters (479,156 square feet).
The site is well-known for its long-standing association with Shredded Wheat and is now set to undergo a significant transformation. IJM Land plans to develop a mixed-use complex that combines residential, commercial and leisure spaces. This development is expected to bring a fresh dynamic to Welwyn Garden City, blending the area's rich industrial heritage with modern urban design. The planned redevelopment aims to create a vibrant, multifaceted space that will benefit both residents and businesses in Hertfordshire.
