Heitman has appointed Caleb Mercer as managing director of its European private equity group to originate, structure, complete, and manage investments throughout Europe. He will report to Tony Smedley, Heitman’s head of European private equity.
Mercer formerly served as a senior vice president, European acquisitions at Starwood Capital, where he sourced investment opportunities across multiple European geographies. In his previous role with Heitman, he was senior vice president, acquisitions. Mercer began his career as an analyst with Merrill Lynch. He has also held real estate roles with AXA Investment Managers and JER Partners. In total, Caleb has 15 years of real estate investment experience and has transacted across 15 European countries. He has experience across a wide variety of real estate asset classes and in direct, corporate and credit real estate investments.
