Finnish impact fund backs private healthcare group in Morocco

by Kali Persall

OP Finnfund Global Impact Fund I, the first Finnish global-emerging-markets-impact fund, has invested $10 million in CIM Santé Group, a Moroccan private healthcare group, to strengthen the country’s healthcare sector.

CIM Santé Group operates three clinics in Rabat, Marrakech and Tangier, owns radiology centers and is in partnership with several medical labs.

CIM Santé Group plans to use the funding provided by OP Finnfund Global Impact Fund I and Vantage Capital, Africa’s main mezzanine-debt provider, to extend its flagship clinic in Marrakech and expand its operations to Casablanca to meet the increasing demand for healthcare services in the country. CIM Santé Group also plans to further strengthen its position in the Moroccan market by adding more clinics to its portfolio as well as entering new markets in the rest of Africa.

“In Morocco, there is a growing need for accessible quality healthcare services,” said Johanna Raehalme, investment manager
