DJ Van Keuren launches family office real estate institute

After 20 years working with developers and institutional real estate investors such as The Carlyle Group, Apollo Global Management and Goldman Sachs, DJ Van Keuren has formed the Van Keuren Family Office Real Estate Institute (FOREI), which is a resource hub for family real estate businesses and family offices.

Family offices and family real estate businesses have had challenges investing in real estate, a new field for many of them, but real estate continues to grow as a primary asset class for their portfolios; FOREI’s survey found families’ investment portfolios have an average of 22 percent invested in real estate assets. There is currently no executive education program that focuses specifically on real estate for family offices. Wealthy families must deal with certain real estate issues — for example, succession and inheritance — that individual and institutional investors do not have to handle.
