Cornell University’s endowment, valued at more than $10 billion, yielded a return of 3.6 percent for the fiscal year that ended on June 30, according to a statement from the university.
Over the past five years, the endowment has generated annualized returns of 9.3 percent, outperforming its 7.4 percent benchmark.
At the end of 2022, 19 percent of Cornell’s long-term investments portfolio was allocated toward real assets.
Cornell’s 3.6 percent fiscal year 2023 performance compares with a 1.3 percent loss during fiscal year 2022 and a 41.9 percent return in fiscal year 2021.
