Colorado PERA terminates executive director after 2-month leave of absence

by Kali Persall

The $66.1 billion Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association (PERA) voted unanimously to terminate the employment of its executive director, Ron Baker, earlier this month.

Baker, who had served as PERA’s executive director since 2018, had been on a leave of absence since March 8 but the pension fund did not disclose why. His contract was scheduled to expire in September.

According to Colorado PERA, Baker will remain on leave until his final termination date of June 1.

Amy McGarrity, CIO and COO of Colorado PERA will continue to serve as acting executive director until a replacement is found.

The pension fund invests in real estate and alternatives, which include infrastructure.
