City of Phoenix Employees puts $50m in healthcare, senior-housing funds

The City of Phoenix Employees' Retirement System has committed a total of $50 million to two healthcare and senior-housing funds, IREI has learned.

The pension fund put $25 million each in Hammes Partners IV, a non-core healthcare real estate fund managed by Hammes Partners, and Focus Senior Housing Fund II, an institutional-investment senior-housing fund managed by Focus Healthcare Partners.

With an exclusive focus on the U.S. healthcare real estate market, Hammes Partners’ investment portfolio is composed of high-quality outpatient healthcare facilities such as medical-office buildings, ambulatory care centers and specialty clinics. Hammes Partners IV has a target fund size of $675 million.

Houston Police Officers Pension System also recently approved a $25 million commitment to the fund.
