Chinese companies continue to drive capital into London
Despite Brexit concerns reducing total investment volume, Asian investors are the largest net buyers in the Central London investment market, reports Cushman & Wakefield. The firm’s research reveals Central London investment activity totaled £3.8 billion ($5.5 billion) in first quarter 2016, down against the previous quarter and first quarter 2015, as the impending U.K. referendum on remaining in the European Union has an impact on investor behavior.
Overall, Central London investment volumes fell by approximately one-third quarter-on-quarter, with around £1.9 billion ($2.8 billion) invested in both the West End and the City. Near identical totals masked very different activity in the two markets. Whereas City and Docklands investment volumes halved quarter-on-quarter, and were 20 percent below the five-year quarterly average, West End volumes were down just 10 percent quarter-on-quarter and almost on a par with the five-year quarterly average.&nb
