China has plans to spend $60 billion on data centers this year, with demand driven by 5G, the Internet of Things, industrial digitization and digital finance, reported Asia Times Financial.
It will be an increase of 12.7 percent year-on-year. By 2025, this sum is expected to reach 708 billion yuan ($101 billion).
Huang Wei, chairman and CEO of IWC, said that, at present, China’s demand for data centers is mainly concentrated in eastern economically developed provinces, as the population and density of internet users in these regions was far ahead of the central and western regions.
The number of large internet, cloud computing, innovative tech enterprises, and government and enterprise users was also far ahead of other regions and had made a greater contribution to the digital economy. The eastern region had the most demand for data centers in China.
