Carlton Lenoir Sr. has been selected as executive director of the Chicago Teachers' Pension Fund (CTPF), following a nationwide search.
He replaces Charles Burbridge, who left in October 2020 with plans to return to Georgia. Jeffery Blackwell, board of trustees president, was appointed interim executive director in March 2021, following the January 2021 retirement of deputy executive director Mary Cavallaro.
Lenoir, who previously served as the chief benefits officer at Illinois Teachers' Retirement System for the past five years, will step into the role Aug. 2.
Lenoir began his career at CTPF as an active Accounts Counselor and worked his way up to a management position. His experience includes all phases of public pension fund administration, including the implementation of three enterprise-wide pension administration systems over an 18-year period.
