CapitaLand Ascendas REIT acquires Greater Osaka data center in $1b deal

CapitaLand Ascendas REIT has completed the acquisition of a Tier III hyperscale data center in Greater Osaka, Japan, in a transaction valued at ¥156 billion (approximately $1 billion).

The 40.5-megawatt facility represents the largest single-asset data center sale in Japan’s history. JLL advised an international investor on the disposal of the asset.

CapitaLand Ascendas REIT acquired the majority interest in the data center, while the remaining stake is held by a fund managed by a Japanese institutional investor.

“Japan is one of the most highly sought data center markets globally given its established economy, world-class energy infrastructure and supportive digital demographics.
