CalPERS promotes Daniel Bienvenue to new deputy CIO role

The $388.9 billion California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) has promoted Daniel Bienvenue to deputy CIO for the total portfolio strategy.

In the newly created position, Bienvenue will report to Yu “Ben” Meng, CIO at CalPERS.

For the past six years, Bienvenue has served as the managing investment director of global equity for the pension fund. In that role, he was responsible for implementing and managing the investment strategy and policy for the pension fund’s $170 billion portfolio in publicly traded equity investments worldwide, according to his LinkedIn page.

Prior to that, he held several other portfolio management roles at the pension fund, dating back to 2004. Bienvenue also has worked at BlackRock’s BGI and JPMorgan Chase & Co.
