Cain International closes European Real Estate Opportunity Fund I

by Kali Persall

Cain International, a privately held investment firm, has closed its inaugural European Real Estate Opportunity Fund I (EREO I) with €324 million ($393 million) in capital commitments.

Investments came from Goldman Sachs’ Vintage Funds and U.S.-based Security Benefit Life Insurance Co., as well as Cain’s founding partners and members of its senior management team.

Some 70 percent of EREO I’s capital has been deployed already across several European gateway cities, including Dublin, Paris and Madrid. EREO I’s remaining capital will be used to target opportunities in the residential sector.

“We are excited to invest in a fund with an attractive seed portfolio and remain confident in the future of high-quality assets in European gateway and challenger cities,” said Igor Ostrowski on behalf of Goldman Sachs’ Vintage Funds. “We look forward to further developing our partnership with the firm in the months and years ahead.”
