Canadian firm Brookfield Asset Management was named largest global fund manager with the highest total real estate assets under management, totaling more than $109 billion in 2012, replacing Los Angeles–based CBRE Global Investors, according to ANREV, the Asian American Association for Investors in Non-listed Real Estate, and INREV, the European Association for Investors in Non-listed Real Estate.
The survey consists of 147 fund managers with an aggregate of $1.9 trillion in real estate assets under management. The survey measures data through Dec. 31, 2012. The respondents manage a total of 2,289 non-listed direct real estate vehicles, including funds, commingled funds, separate accounts, joint ventures and club deals.
