Brookfield, CPPIB to launch $50b fund to invest in strategic sectors

Brookfield Asset Management and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) have launched a C$50 billion ($35.9 billion) Maple Fund to pursue large-scale investments in critical infrastructure and strategic industries across Canada, according to The Globe and Mail.

Brookfield and CPP Investments will each provide up to C$25 billion ($17.9 billion) in equity capital over an initial five-year period, with investments structured on a 50/50 basis. The partnership will focus on large and complex opportunities requiring more than C$5 billion ($3.6 billion) in equity capital.
