Boston approves $1.3b tower project

by Andrea Zander

The Boston Planning and Development Agency has approved Millennium Partners’ proposal to construct a 690-foot-tall office tower with 500 residential units, according to local media outlets.

The price tag is estimated at $1.3 billion for the development of the former site of Winthrop Square Garage in Boston’s Financial District.

The 1.6 million-square-foot building will be one of the tallest new towers constructed in Boston since at least the mid-1970s.

Millennium Partners still needs final approval from the Massachusetts Historical Commission for quarter-century-old rules banning buildings from casting shadows over historic parks, according to NECN.
