BlackRock appoints former UBS executive as managing director

Michael Lawton, former managing director at UBS, has been appointed managing director at BlackRock. He will be part of the firm’s New York–based private capital markets unit.

Lawton is a financial services executive with experience in investment banking and leveraged finance, according to his LinkedIn page. He brings to the role expertise in origination, structuring, capital markets and syndication, as well as extensive relationships with financial sponsors and credit investors.

BlackRock’s private capital markets unit encompasses a variety of asset classes, including real estate, infrastructure, private equity and private credit, according to BlackRock’s website.

In his previous role at UBS, Lawton originated, structured and syndicated high-yield bonds and leveraged loans for corporate and financial sponsor clients, working out of the firm’s leveraged
