Barings launches bridge finance fund

Barings, a diversified real estate investment manager, has launched its newest investment vehicle, Barings Real Estate Bridge Finance I, according to a filing with the SEC. The firm did not comment on its fundraising efforts.

Barings Real Estate Bridge Finance I is a real estate fund that will invest in debt secured by U.S. properties. The firm follows a relative value approach. Barings has raised $85 million in equity commitments so far for the fund, according to the filing.

An additional debt fund managed by Barings, Barings Real Estate Credit Strategies VII, raised $201 million in 2017. The fund will invest in U.S. debt secured by properties with core investment strategies.

As of Dec. 31, 2017, Barings had more than $304 billion in assets under management.
