The board of directors of the Asia Pacific Real Estate Association (APREA)Â has appointed Sigrid Zialcita as CEO.
She replaces outgoing chief executive Peter Verwer.
An economist by training, Zialcita has close to 20 years of experience in economic and real estate research, consulting, and business strategy. Prior to joining APREA, Zialcita was managing director, Asia Pacific research at Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) for more than 15 years, where she was responsible for research, thought leadership, strategy formulation and client management. During her career, Zialcita was a recognized expert and industry spokesperson on global economic, public policy and real estate issues. Prior to C&W, Zialcita worked as a senior economist at the National Association of Realtors in Washington, D.C., and as a consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York City.
Established in 2005, APREA is an industry association that represents and promotes the real estate asset class in the Asia Pacific region. Over the years, APREA has established a dominant presence in the real estate industry through its work with governments to facilitate robust investment ground rules and tax systems that actively encourage deep and liquid capital markets, including “state of the art” REIT rules in all Asian countries. APREA’s member companies manage an estimated $1 trillion of assets under management.
