Area One Farms launches two new farm partnership funds

Area One Farms, a Toronto-based investor that builds equity partnerships with Canadian farmers, has launched Area One Farms Fund IV and Fund V.

Fund IV will offer Canadian institutional investors exposure to investments in farm partnerships in Canadian provinces where institutional investors are legally permitted and desired by local farmers. It is structured as a 10-year closed-end fund, and has already secured a cornerstone commitment of C$100 million ($78 million).

Fund V will offer exposure to farm partnerships solely in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. It is structured as a perpetual entity with liquidity options starting in year five. The fund is open to Canadian individuals or private corporations or trusts that have 100 percent Canadian beneficiaries.

Both funds are focused on continuing Area One’s goal of forming meaningful partnerships with Canadian farmers to help them expand and grow through land conversion work that emphasizes sustainability. The Area O
