Apollo Global Management appoints Connecticut treasurer Shawn Wooden to newly created role

Apollo Global Management has appointed Connecticut state treasurer Shawn Wooden to the newly created role of partner and chief public pension strategist for the firm’s institutional client and product solutions group (ICPS).

Wooden will retire as the 83rd State Treasurer of Connecticut in January 2023. In April 2022, Wooden, the sole trustee of the $45 billion Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds, announced that he would not seek re-election as treasurer in the fall, citing personal reasons.

In the newly created role at Apollo, Wooden will be responsible for deepening Apollo’s relationships with public pension plans, expanding its product offerings to further meet the needs of pension plans and providing thought leadership in the rapidly evolving market.
