AP3, one of five funds that manage capital on behalf of the Swedish state pension system, has promoted Maria Bjorklund to head of alternative investments.
In 2018, Bjorklund joined AP3 as a portfolio manager for international real estate and infrastructure. Prior to that, she worked at AMF, primarily with infrastructure investments, and developed Posten Pensionsstiftelse’s portfolio of alternative investments before that.
Bjorklund has managed a variety of unlisted assets in the real estate, infrastructure, private equity and private debt sectors. She also has experience as a fixed-income manager with a focus on the domestic market.
Bjorklund succeeds Bengt Hellström, who left the role of manager after overseeing AP3’s alternative investment portfolio for 20 years.
As of June 30, AP3 had SEK 386.4 billion ($45.85 billion) of assets under management.
