Alan Arnold Jr., investment director at Rice Management Company, passed away on April 28, after an 18-month battle with cancer. Arnold, 46, was a well-respected, long-time executive in the institutional real estate arena. He joined Rice Management Company in 2013 as investment director for real estate, after previously serving as senior vice president and a member of the investment committee at Lionstone Investments for 10 years.
During his tenure at Rice Management Company, which manages the $6.5 billion Rice University endowment fund, Arnold was responsible for the real estate portfolio, including direct investments, programmatic joint ventures, and commingled funds.
Arnold, a graduate of The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania (MBA) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (BA), served on the boards of Urban Land Institute in Houston, St. Anne Catholic School, and Covenant House Texas. He also was a long-time member of the e
