AkademikerPension plans to grow property portfolio to nearly $1b by 2026

AkademikerPension, a public pension fund based in Denmark, has unveiled a new real estate strategy to increase the property portfolio from the current DKK 2 billion ($270 million) to DKK 7 billion ($944 million) by 2026.

AkademikerPension said the goal is for the property portfolio to comprise 7 percent to 8 percent of the total portfolio by 2026, compared with the current 4 percent to 5 percent.

The current portfolio consists primarily of offices in Copenhagen, but will expand to include 50 percent residential, 30 percent offices and various construction projects by 2026. Most of the investments will be located in Copenhagen and Aarhus, with some 25 percent of the real estate investments to be made in smaller Danish cities.
