AEW Capital Management has promoted Gina Szymanski to CIO for its global securities business, which manages approximately $4 billion of real estate securities (REITs) across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. Previously, Szymanski was senior portfolio manager for AEW’s North American securities platform, which represents over 70 percent of the firm’s total global securities holdings.
As the gobal CIO, she will have direct oversight of investment decisions in Europe and Asia Pacific, as well as North America, and will lead AEW’s Global Securities Allocation Committee. She will continue to report directly to AEW’s head of global Securities, JT Straub. Robert Oosterkamp, who previously served as CIO for the global securities business, will be leaving the firm at the end of the year to pursue an entrepreneurial venture.
